Sheet nesting calculator
How many parts fit on a sheet, your yield, and the material cost per part. Dimensions in inches.
0parts per sheet
—sheets needed
—yield
—waste
—material cost per part
How it's calculated
Parts are laid out in a grid inside the edge margin, with spacing between them for kerf. With rotation on, both orientations are tried and the better one is used. Real nesting of irregular shapes usually does better than a rectangular grid.
yield = parts × part area ÷ sheet area
cost per part = sheet cost ÷ parts per sheet
cost per part = sheet cost ÷ parts per sheet
Tips for better yield
- Common-line cutting — share edges between parts.
- Mix parts — fill gaps with small parts from other orders.
- Rotate — try both orientations, and mirrored parts.
- Use remnants — track offcuts and cut small parts from them.
